Cone Penetration Test (CPT)
AEC DRILLING performs CPT to obtain geotechnical data commonly needed for construction purposes. CPT is usually used to determine the subsurface stratigraphy in situ (in place) & to estimate geotechnical parameters of the materials present. The CPT Test Method consists of pushing an instrumented cone into the ground at a controlled 2 cm/sec push rate based on ASTM D 5778. Also, Seismic CPT (SCPT) sounding provides a rapid, cost-effective method for directly measuring shear wave velocity of soil in situ.
Auger Drilling (Hollow Stem & Solid Stem)
AEC DRILLING typically deploys hollow stem & solid stem auger rigs. Our auger team is efficient & often works on geotechnical projects to collect soil samples & perform Standard Penetration Testing (SPT).
Rotary Core Continues Soil & Rock Sampling
AEC DRILLING maintains a large inventory of rotary drilling & coring rigs that, when partnered with our highly experienced drillers, can meet a wide range of exploration, environmental & geotechnical drilling site investigation, & remediation needs. Our mechanics & our Preventative Maintenance Program ensure that all necessary equipment is available & operating at maximum efficiency. Environmental Direct-Push Well Services
AEC DRILLING has effective, state-of-the-art equipment available to apply direct-push technology. When applicable, this method allows for the collection of high-quality samples in less time & at lower costs. Unlike conventional drilling, direct-push technology does not generate soil cuttings that, if contaminated, require special handling & costly disposal. Geotechnical & environmental samples can be obtained in previously inaccessible areas & with minimal site impact thanks to the small, limitedaccess rigs operated by our team. We provide direct-push services for environmental soil, soil vapor, & groundwater sampling.
We operate our own Geoprobe Combo 7822 DT & Geoprobe TruckMounted 5410 direct-push sampling rigs, which are capable of handling both single and dual-tube sampling (DT 22, MC 5, DT 325 OTE).
Soil Classification & Borehole Logging
Our Geologist directly manages & leads the AEC DRILLING Team for every project. He examines the samples while drilling & performs soil classification based on ASTM D 2488.
Standard Penetration Test (SPT) & Shelby Tube Sampling
Standard Penetration Test (SPT) & split-barrel sampling of soils are based on ASTM D 1586.
